Where in the world is Larry Sloan?

First Quarter 2012 has been a very busy time for SOCMA President & CEO Lawrence Sloan. Making tracks all over the United States, Sloan visited the facilities of six member companies in between attending various industry events occurring as well. Member companies that welcomes Sloan into their facilities were:

Albemarle Corporation
Baton Rouge, LA
Note-worthy: Albemarle is one of the few firms in the world with the facilities and expertise to help customers with product development at every stage, from contract research, process development and the pilot plant right through commercial-scale manufacturing.

Avatar Corporation
University Park, IL
Community outreach: Avatar was hosting a group of chemistry students from a local community college the day of the visit. They recently conducted a similar tour earlier this month.  Their involvement in reaching out to the local community is to hire intern students periodically.

BASF
Florham Park, NJ
Met with: Dr. Daniele Piergentili, V.P., Pharma Ingredients & Services North America

Deltech
Baton Rouge, LA
Interesting fact: The site was founded in 1955 and operated first as a Foster Grant facility (think sunglasses).

Novolyte
Zachary, LA
Note-worthy: Novolyte is well known for their work in developing “green” solvents, which are used in electrolyte production.

SiVance
Gainesville, FL
Interesting fact: SiVance was founded in 1953 by a couple  of University of Florida graduate students.
