NAM Announces National Manufacturing Strategy

Posted: 06/28/10 at 11:01 AM

During its monthly policy call on June 24, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) announced plans to rollout a comprehensive manufacturing strategy designed to create jobs and sustain economic growth.

NAM, the country’s largest industrial trade group for small and large manufacturers, said the U.S. lacks a roadmap to help manufacturers be more competitive. The eight-page plan, known as the Strategy for Jobs and a Competitive America, will be released June 28 and covers a broad range of topics including tax and labor policy, as well as legal reform. NAM hopes the document will jump start a national conversation among members of Congress, the media and voters on these issues.

The association is also reaching out to candidates in 30 congressional districts with open seats in places like Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, to encourage them to adopt the jobs blueprint.

NAM President John Engler was guest host on CNBC’s Squawk Box show on Monday, June 28 from 7:00-9:00 am.  He discussed NAM’s strategy for creating jobs and making manufacturing more competitive.
